Hospitalized Life
Meals
- There are two types of meals during hospitalization; a 'therapeutic diet' determined by your doctor that varies in volume and content depending on your condition, and the 'general diet'regardless of medical treatment. Please be aware that the energy, nutrition, and salt contents of the 'general diet' are adjusted in accordance to the ‘Japanese Dietary Intake Standard’ in terms of hypertension prevention and maintenance of good health.
- Your available menu depends on your meal type.
Your meal choice can be ordered using the ‘Okonomi Meal Ordering
System’ installed in the lounge.
Ask the floor staff for help with ordering your meal.
* If ordered, an additional fee will be charged. - You can have a meal at the「Hareyaka Lounge」on the same floor.
The available hours are as follows; Please call to the floor staff.

◎ Dinner PM 6:00~ - For those who have meals in their hospital rooms, meal will be served
from the following times.

◎ Dinner PM 6:00~ - A tea dispenser is installed in the「Hareyaka Lounge」, so feel free to use it.
- Please refrain from eating meals other than those served by the hospital as much as possible. Perishables, in particular, are forbidden for the sake of food safety.
* The managerial dietician in charge of the floor is consulted for foods and nutrition.
Taking a Bath
- A bath tub is installed only in special private rooms.
- Please use showers equipped in the private rooms and shower room on your floor.
Nightclothes
- You can prepare your own nightwear or pajamas, etc. Rental nightwear is also available.
- Please wear something in addition to pajamas when you leave the hospitalization floor in order to approximate daily life.
Laundry
- When you need to do laundry, use the all-in-one washer-dryer installed on
each hospital floor, or cleaning pick-up and delivery service to specific rooms (at additional charge)

Wake-up ・Lights-out
- In order to adjust patients' rest and sleep environment, wake-up and lights-out times are as follows.
Wake-up time: AM 6:00
Lights-out time: PM 9:30
Curtains Surrounding Bed
- In quadruple rooms, please keep the curtains surrounding your bed open in the daytime so as to confirm patients’ safety, maintain the rhythm of daily life and make the rooms brighter.
Visitation
- Patients’ names are not shown in hospitalization rooms.
- We respect patients’ wishes. Visits are only permitted for those listed in
advance on the 'Questionnaire for Visitors' filled out by the patient at the start of hospitalization.
In addition, visits may be forbidden due to disease conditions or medical examination. - We will not answer if a specific patient is hospitalized or not, if desired.
- We never answer inquiries by phone.
- As a rule, the hospital is open and closed from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Please note that the front door will be locked between PM9:00 and AM7:00.)
- Please use the Hareyaka Lounge on each hospitalization floor.
- Please disinfect your hands and fingers with the sanitizer provided at the entrance of the hospitalization rooms in order to protect the patients from
infection.
Please do not bring preschool-age children or younger.
Hospital Stays by Family Members
- As our hospital provides nursing care specified by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, attendants are not required.
- Family members who wish to stay at the hospital should submit the ‘Application of Inpatient’s Family Hospital Stay” in advance.
- Please note that family members without permission or patient-employed attendants are not permitted.
Going out ・Stay out
- Those who wish to go out or stay out during their hospitalization must get their doctor’s permission.
- Please submit the ‘Application of Going out ・Stay out’ form after filling out the required information.
Telephone
- Please refrain from requesting the relay of the calling from outside as a general rule.
Public telephones are available in front of the store on the 1st floor and on 5th floor west. - A telephone set is equipped in the special private rooms and regular private rooms.
Telephone calls from outside will be received by our switchboard and transferred to the patient after confirming the hospitalization floor, room number and patient’s name.
Telephone calls outside are charged and a cashless card is required. - our doctor may call the patient’s family using their PHS. If they are absent, the numbers 837-3020 will be indicated on the call register.
It is not possible to call the doctor back directly.
Mobile Phone
Mobile phones can be used in the areas other than those marked on the left.
- It is possible to use mobile phones in the special private rooms and regular private rooms.
Please use mobile phones at the Hareyaka Lounge when patients are in the quadruple rooms.
f you have no choice but to use your mobile phone in the quadruple room, please give full consideration to surrounding people; set it to silent mode or finish talking in a short time. - Public wireless LAN(Wi-Fi) can be used.
Be sure to turn off the power in places with the sign displayed on the left (ER, critical care center, etc.).
Television
- To use the television, a cashless card is required. It is available from the card dispensers installed in front of the ATM on the 1st floor, in the store, and in the lounge on the 4th floor. Other cards are not accepted.
- Please give consideration not to disturb others when using a television.
When you are in the quadruple room, please use an earphone.
Please turn off the TV and go to bed at 9:30 PM to ensure a stable medical treatment environment at night.
Cashless Cards in the Hospital
- This cashless card is available for the paid services in the hospital (TV, washing, and shopping at the store) For details, please read the leaflet in the room.
Cash
- Bring to minimize bringing cash into the rooms.
Storage of the Valuables
- Keep cash, valuables, cash cards etc. in the safe and keep track of them yourself in order to prevent loss or theft (except in certain circumstances due to illness).
Library (Naruhodo Library)
- There is an in-hospital library called ‘Naruhodo Library’ on the 2nd floor of the Kochi Medical Center (to the right when exiting the elevator) As the library lends books to inpatients’ rooms, please use it.
